2 miles on a Tarpon would be expected. The longest battle I've had to date started 6 miles back country side, went 3 miles ocean side, and then came back. We finished about 200 yards short of the channel bridge that we had crossed under about 45 minutes before. That would be roughly 12 miles. A 125+ pound Tarpon out of a kayak would be a hell ride. If you had a 40lb+ leader I'm not sure you could even apply enough pressure to break one off even if you wanted to. Take that kayak with you to the Keys Joe...........I'll alert the Cuban authorities that you'll be passing their shores being towed by a Tarpon.
