An awesome weekend...
Down Friday. Mini splurge at N. Angler. Gotta patronize the sponsors. Dinner with Sean at Joe's. Low to mid incoming under shooting stars at Ministers. Nauset in crazy surf at midnight. Hieroglyphics in the sand. Playin' The Monkeys.
Rendezvous at the light Sat morning. Monomoy coffee. Rip Ryder over to S. Beach at 8. Pete, Nick, Bill, Greg D, Roop and gang hike it over to the front side. Juro and I hang on the inside. Honkin' wind in our faces. Sterile until about 10...then madness. Trains of fish moving right to left. Strip..strip..strip....WHAMMO!!! A couple keepers and plenty in between. Sight fishing at its best. Juro wonders into the distance only to be seen later in the day with a digicam full of sweet stripes. Return on the Rip Ryder at 11. One more twinkie at the dropoff. Fishing for keys with Bill in the parking lot.
Tales of UNIX, homegrown solar systems, and big HP Chevelles with Greg D at lunch.
Out to Nauset where 30-odd anglers frighten the locals with chants of floaters, flatwings, and fish. Waves broadside, but to no avail. Not a fish was seen despite the largest ever genuine-faux hatch of "herring" this side of the Mississippi.
Beaten but not down, endeavour on a maiden oversand voyage...this time for real (sans aerials). Eddie and Sean accomplice. Beatiful ride out. Picked up a handful of fish. Saw many more taken a la liveliner. Beautiful ride back. Dinner with Sean, Eddie, and Eddie's better half (the Chef)...oh, and Sutro(sp?) too.
Lots of familiar faces and lots of new ones too.
First banner weekend of the season...with many more to come.
Until next weekend...
