Griffiths Gnatt

I should note, this is not a pattern of mine, but one I did find along the way.

Hook: Mustad Dry Fly 94840 or R30
Thread: Black 8/0 Unithread
Tail: - none -
Body: Pecock Herl
Wings: - none -
Hackle: American Rooster Saddle Grizzly

Tie in a thread base just past over entire shaft.

Secure 2 hackles and 3 peacock strands

Apply second thread base back up to eye.

Wrap Peacock herl up to head and secure.

Wrap one hackle up to same place as pecock strands.

do the same for second hackle. (both should be turned the same direction and very close together. Should be VERY bushy.)

That's It.

Real quick pattern to tye and I have started adding in a loop of 20 lb test leader for securing droppers to. It floats so high and well with a little flotant, that even heavy wet flies do not pull it down.

Have had success against Crappies with this on rivers/ponds all in clear water.
