Memorial Day weekend this year is in the middle of a sequence of mid-day high tides so you won't even need to wake up early. The fish will usually hit all day in May. If you find where they are it's easy fishing from the shore. When that warmed water comes out of the estuaries loaded with goodies the fish will frequently station in the ebb and feed through the afternoon as well.
If you are yakkin' it I'd recommend paddling out at slack low in the morning at Barnstable Harbor or Bass Hole on the bayside and fishing your way back with the flood. Easy paddling when the current's bringing you back toward the launch.
If the wind is blowing north there are a number of great spots on the south side to explore as well. You wouldn't have to come all the way to the Cape, Rhody will be hot then too. There is supposed to be a CT clave as well - who knows you might hit them all on your way
Mem. day is a great time of year.
