Thumbs up New Salmon conservation measures in Ireland

Hi All,

It is quite a while since I last had salmon news for you, but the latest over here is

1. the introduction of a quota for the commercial sector based on Tag returns and historical data and

2. a bag limit of a fish a day for recreational anglers from Jan 1 to May 31
http://www.cfb.ie/pr/salmoncons.htm

There is also the continuation of the ban on the sale of rod caught fish which was introduced just at the end of the season last year.

These efforts should really make a difference and those planning a trip in the future could really benefit from the measures when they arrive with all those extra fish coming up the river.

Regards,

Myles Kelly
