Good to hear ASF is talking about the Kennebec. My brother and I kayaked it in November to look for Salmon Redds, it's a bittersweet trip. We drifted over acres and acres of nice spawning habitat that is now exposed and available due to the dam removal. Unfortunatly we didn't see any redds, but it's a very big river. Every year some fish do seem to return. This summer DMR found a couple in the ledge pools below Ticonic Falls. One was a Penobscot fish the other was a Wild Kennebec Salmon. This summer I saw one leap below five mile island. Theres light at the end of the tunnel I believe, buts it's still a very long tunnel.
