DB rods came out around then if I recall, they have a great casting action but didn't bother with fancy hardware to keep cost down (e.g. plastic reel seat). 8656 is probably an 8'6" 5-6wt, so if you're a beginner load it with a 6wt; if you know how to cast try a 5wt. Not worth a heck of a lot on the resale market so I would fish it and have fun with it.
