I've always fished an 8wt or once in a while 9 wt for Snook . I've generally used a 9' leader tapered to a 15#. Once the fish get into the mid-20" and larger you'll want a 30# bite tippet 12-ish inches long. I tie on the bite tippet with a Slim Beauty or a Triple Surgeons if in a hurry. You generally need to shorten or change the bite tippet after a fish or two...the abraded tippet shows up like a hawser.
We live in complex times, what with fishing,sailing and skiing seasons overlapping.
