Unfortunately, it was voted down 72-43 by countries mostly on the supply-side (both oceans and the Mediterranean) with Japan on the demand-side of course, but demand is growing worldwide and the fact that every grocery store now carries sushi should raise a flag. Canada was among the nations who did not support the proposal. The proposal suggested a total ban CITIES level 1 which would never fly:
