I spent the last nine years guiding in Montana and Wyoming, and the 9' 5 wt is the way to go. that rod will allow you to fish nymph rigs, smaller streamers, and most importantly large and small dry flies in windy conditions. i only fished the lighter rods on smaller water with smaller flies. You are on the right track looking at the boron series rods by winston and orvis. they feel like a much lighter rod in hand, whether casting or fighting a fish.
