Two-hand small fly problems

I just figured I'd post a problem I've been having with my two-handed rod.

I have the LL Bean 10/11 11'6" Orion rod and am using it with the Airflo two-hand beach line sinking version.

The problem is that I have trouble casting small - say under 3/0 - flies. Heavily weighted flies no sweat, big air-resistant ones I can chuck a good distance fairly consistently.

A small fly however creates something of an enormous tailing loop after a backcast. The casting loop itself is okay but the fly stays very low. At first I thought I was over-powering the cast which I have a tendency to do, but even deliberately weak casts have the same flaw.

Before the two hand the biggest rod I ever cast was my glx 10wt (I can still cast that further than the two-hander.) I only experienced a problem like this when I tried over-lining the rod via a shooting head.

Any thoughts?
