I wish I could tell you that I've at least met Tim Coleman; but alas, I cannot. I've only seen this fly once other than in a photo plate in a book, and that one was framed. I've not seen this fly in use on any of the "S" rivers or the Olympic Peninsula rivers; however, this doesn't mean it is not used by some folks. It simply means that those I know or have run into astream don't use it.
I suspect its lack of general use has to do with its claret coloration because claret is hardly ever used for PNW steelhead. I use claret when there is mud in the river and a few feet of visibility since it shows up nearly as well as black.
Perhaps some of our members use it, have used it, or know some folks who use it and they can provide some info on it. It sure is a pretty fly though.
