I prefer the smaller and lesser known waters to the big name places. In that same vein, I also prefer the out of the way stretches of the big name places (i.e., pools that are yet to be named).
In nortwestern Maine there are a handful of native brook trout streams near the Richardson Lakes that are my absolute favorites. I only fish them as a guest of a friend and probably couldn't remember how to get to them on my own, but I suppose that's the way I would prefer it. I also don't mind that I can hardly ever remember the streams' names. They just have crystal clear water, beautiful structure, and pretty native fish.
