What about their use as dee wings, components in married wing salmon classics, old wets like the Alder Fly, the overbody (or shellback) on Flick's Golden Stone Nymph (other folks also used them this way), and let us not forget turkey tail was used as an overwing on Theodore Gordon's famous BUMBLE PUPPY. You could also put several fibers together and wrap them like a herl to make fly bodies.
