I own the Loomis 8 wt that you mention in your post and have used the rod for Bonefish and Bonito as well as Striper flats fishing. Others (experienced casters), have commented that the Loomis is an amazing casting rod. The rod is very fast and probably takes a little practice and/or a slightly heavier line than the Orvis. I think an 8 wt may be somewhat stressed if your plan is to use it for Bluefish of any size on a regular basis.
