The Albright knot is suitable for all types of fishing.

If you're having trouble with the nail knot, try using a tool that's specially made for it (or even a common object such as a straw). It's a knot that gets much easier with practice. Some bite of the leader material into the line is normal (in fact it's what holds the knot), but there shouldn't be any tearing.

Keep at it, and it will get easier.
