Forest Fire Season - West

Well it's here and in full swing, Forest Fire season! Here in the west we have 35 major fires burning in 6 states. 2 that are now causing access problems to fisheries are;

Montana - Kelly Point Fire - 3250 acres 38 miles southeast of the town of Bigfork. Closures are in effect for the South Fork Flathead from Salmon to Meadow Creek.

Alaska - Greyling Creek - 16,000 acres is 15 miles Northwest of the town of Anvik.
This fire threatens the Anvik River Fisheries.

With it being the 2nd week in August and a long dry spell ahead, please use extreme caution as you head into the baccountry!

Use stoves instead of campfires for cooking, and keep all campfires contained
Crush out smokes and matches and dispose of correctly
Never leave any fires un-attended.
This information from the NIFC ( National Interangency Fire Center )

Ill be heading into the Mt Jefferson wilderness on Friday, hope you have a good one!
