The Far Side...of Fish
Reuters is reporting that a 646.2 pound Mekong River Catfish was netted in Thailand. This is now the largest freshwater fish officaly recorded in the world!
Dr Zeb Hogan, a World Wildlife Fund Conservation Science Fellow has now "Confirmed that this Catfish is the current record holder".
The Mekong River Catfish is Southeast Asia's largest and rarest freshwater fish. The National Geographic Society is involved in a project studying this species.
Conservationists wanted to release the fish so it could continue to spawn, but it had been eaten by a local village
