September is a great month, with some very large fish around. Wade fishing in the Keys can be tough- a lot of very soft bottom. If you are going to be in Islamorada your best bet is a flat on Lower Matecumbe, sometimes referred to as Bale Beach. It got its' name from the occasional bale of marijuana that would wash up. It has good hard bottom with mixed grass/sand patches that is easy to wade. Incoming tide early or late in the day. For tailers a tan Kwan size 4. For deeper fish Fur Shrimp or Clousers in 4 and 6.
