They are nice moderately fast recovering, moderately stiff blanks that have some reserve power in the butt and a tip that doesn't collapse when pushing the rod. They remind me of the old first generation Fenwick HMG's of the 1970's in action. They are not a fast-recovery, stiff rod by any stretch. If you are looking for a moderate recovering, moderately stiff rod, you will be happy with a RAINSHADOW blank.

The blanks are proprietary and were designed by the head of Pac Bay. There should be some great deals available on them right now because the company (which was literaly located next door to Pac Bay) that made them for Pac Bay has gone out of business and has sold its entire inventory of blanks (including RAINSHADOW) as a lot to a rod building suplier. The supplier cannot legally sell the RAINSHADOW blanks with the RAINSHADOW logo on them though because that belongs to Pac Bay. And these blanks will have no warrenty whatsoever on them as a result.

For those of you who do not know this, blanks are made for others to their specifications by several blank manufacturers. This means that when a business goes under that was producing blanks exclusively, it doesn't mean the blank will no longer be available. It just means that some other blank manufacturer will make it to the same specifications for Pac Bay or who ever else is having the blanks made for them.
