I've been fly fishing Atlantic salmon for 44 years (I'm 58 now). In my estimation, the tidal pool on a river can be one of the most productive place on the river to fish...most of my fishing is done in Labrador and I fish 90% or more of my time there in the tidal pools. I've just ordered a 15ft spey rod. It should be here on Monday...just in time for my annual trip to Labrador on July 4. I hope the old addage is wrong and that you CAN teach an old dog new tricks. Problem is, I have to teach myself...with the help of Mel Krieger's video, and the fishing is so good there that I probably won't want to put down my regular fly rod (11ft) to start learning something new.
