The 34007's are soft. I always preferred the 3407's, plated carbon steel hooks. They also stay sharp longer. I've had a schoolie open a #2 34007. Been using tiemcos the past couple of years and can't complain. With clousers your susceptible to crevise corrosion where the eyes are attached and embrittlement with higher strength material. The stronger the hook the more likely the hook will break when being dragged and banged across rocks and gravel.
I've also thought about taking my chemically sharpend hooks and throwin them in an oven for an hour or so at about 350-400F to eliminate the possibility of hydrogen embrittlement (residual from the etchent used to sharpen the hooks). But I'm sure the manufactures have this covered.
