Is your Redwing a varnished or impregnated cane? If the latter, fishing it in the salt is probably not a big deal since that process makes it impervious to water and adds strength. My H-I is impregnated and flamed. If it turns out that it takes a 7 weight line, I will most likely fish it for stripers as well.
