The DSR was closed below the Josh hole, and for good reason Below that it looked like 4' thick ice slabs were randomly piled on each other on both sides - I wouldn't want to go there. We did OK at the Josh hole and even better in pocket water higher up on the flats. There is a greeat deal of snowstill; the Tug hill area has at least 4'-5' on the ground.
I found the river at the DSR easily wadable and crossable @ 900 cfs (That's 900 cfs at the Altmar dam - it looked more like 1500 cfs below Pulaski with all the tributaries and runoff. Still, no big deal crossing pretty much anywhere. The water was gin-clear and fun to fish.
Sinktips and (gasp!) chuck 'n duck where there was no backcast room. Very small (10-12) dark stones and egg flies worked for us.
