I agree. I love the idea of an exploratory expedition - applying lessons learned over many seasons in similar environments. More like "graduate school". My main thought is picking the right island.

Many Bahamian islands with well established guiding operations guard their flats very jelously - that would rule out Exuma for example, there is some self guiding there but its limited.

Acklins, Crooked, parts of Long Island - there are hundreds of other possibilities. Andros by its sheer size may have a lot of self guiding possibilties also. There is good bonefishing on Nassau by the way - if you know where to go There are some islands where the "guide" just acts as a ferry man and pretty much leaves you alone. That would be my idea of paradise.
