New Orvis Clearwater flaw

I recieved my replacement pair of Orvis Clearwater breathable waders about a week ago and was happy to see that they had improved them by putting another layer of material from the knee down to the bootie.

This weekend I discovered that this improvement in durability has a minor flaw to it. They left the corners of the "patch" open to allow water to flow in and out but that is not how it works for me. Because I am tall I have to wear my waders a bit loose so I don't rip the crotch and because of this the material at the bootie seam tends to drape over a bit and does not allow the water that accumulates in the "patch" to drain effectively. When wading in heavy current above your knees it turns into a large water balloon and you can just imagine what its like wading in those conditions with two big water ballons strapped to your legs. I'm guessing that if you were to wear a pair of snug gravel guards you would encounter the same problem.

I'm thinking of sealing the upper corners. Any opinions?
