I went with the 7-8 wt. size model. I'm thinking this will be the lowest possible model to really use on some weighted tarpons or ocean finishing with some heavier lines. Thanks for your thoughts...

Mostly because of the lesser weight of a smaller reel, and the aesthetics of it on the rod. Bulkier reel doesn't look as great. And the loss in backing can be made up by gel-spun.
