RE:Our Vision and Mission

F*ck Tom and Huck. And long live the Juro cheerleading section.

I'm honored to be among the dissenting minority and ashamed to ever have been part of this.

Over and out!

RE:Our Vision and Mission

Juro -- As you've demonstrated time and again, it doesn't matter what my vision is or anyone else's. The only vision that really matters is yours. It's time to be honest and just admit that. You're...

RE:Our Vision and Mission

Well, I think you've both done a sufficient job of squashing any remaining ideals associated with this board..... Valuable lessons here, folks:

1. never aspire to anything greater than your...

RE:Our Vision and Mission

WOW!

Let's work on keeping things short and to the point here (no hitting below the belt, no rabbit punches, and please gentlemen, when you hear the bell proceed to your corner)

I'll say this,...

RE:Mission IV - the final chapter

Mark, thanks. I originally coined that phrase in response to one of your bro's first posts on this board....

John - I hear you on the fly fishing issue. I'd like to keep things focused on that as...

RE:Epoxy Butt Splice

I'll try it.....

The reason I question it is because Zap a gap is basically superglue and I've always been cautioned against using that on flies because while it holds well, it's very brittle and...

RE:Epoxy Butt Splice

Nice!...But how strong is strong? Strong enough for salwater? It seems to me like a few knocks in the surf would crack that brittle superglue and you'd be all done - you're next fish would take fly,...

RE:Mission Proposals

John, I agree on the wording. However, there is a lot of implied policy in any mission statement. Even "Beat Coke" has a whole bunch of policy boiling around it.

Gang, this has been a productive...

RE:Mission Proposals

I feel we need to capture the spirit behind the words rather than the words themselves. I think Gregg was on to something.

"The Flyfishing Forum is a community of anglers dedicated to sharing...

RE:Basic Leader Formula - A.J. McClane's

For salty fish, I agree with John. A single piece of 16lb. mono or fluro attached to a short butt is all I ever use. I have been having problems with tailing loops, but perhaps that is more a casting...

RE:Mission II

Something I'm a little fuzzy on: are we ranking the idea behind the words or the words themselves? I only ask because we have a lot of duplication. Should we X out the least desirable phrasing or...

RE:Wulff Triangle Taper saltwater floating line

http://www.royalwulff.com/gif_bin/profiles.jpg
Like the weight forward taper, the triangle holds a majority of its density in the front half of the line. This is why it shoots like a rocket. But...

Ryan,
Although we don't know each other, please accept my sincere sympathy. The death of a mentor is a difficult event. Your memory of Joe guarantees his immortality. The flame burns on.

RE:Board Emcee slacker

Gregg -- can't help with the truck payment, but there is a parcel in the mail to you that may bring some cheer.

Jen and I will be at the show (my little guy too). Hope to see you there.

Wulff Triangle Taper saltwater floating line

Used some of my XMas money and picked up the Wulff 9wt. triangle taper (and a spare spool for my Tioga for good measure). All I can say is AWESOME!! On my first lawn cast with it, I threw a 90 ft....

The brush and twig gods shall smile on ye throughout your days.

You're a brave man, Mike. I couldn't even muster casting practice on the lawn yesterday.

RE:Xmas presents?

Tom - thanks. I'll try that, though I have to admit I have my doubts. It's not just that the long stuff is kinky. It seems to lack the luster and suppleness of short polafiber...

Gregg, I will...

RE:Xmas presents?

John - I've found the following techniques work well when dealing with polar fiber:

1. After clipping the fibers from the mat, take hold of both ends and pull away at the base (the end that was...

RE:Xmas presents?

I got Tabory's Guide to Saltwater Baitfish and their Imitations as a stocking stuffer (small book). He offers a decent survey of "bread and butter" baits and a fair to middling fly recipe...
