I've always fished an 8wt or once in a while 9 wt for Snook . I've generally used a 9' leader tapered to a 15#. Once the fish get into the mid-20" and larger you'll want a 30# bite tippet 12-ish...

Well, there's always Taimen in Mongolia, or giant Sturgeon in the Caspian Sea or Black Sea. Or, you could think European/Far Eastern, and travel to Alaska, the Keys or the Glades.
