Spey Rod Technique Cont.
As far a actual fishing technique for great lakes tribs while using a spey rod.
I can think of the downstream swing with a sink tip; A greased line type swing with a sink tip; high sticking with or without an indicator and indicator nymphing. If you were fishing over fish in a shallow tailout either holding or on the redd you could try a dry dead drifted, a dry skated, a hitched wet or a wet swung off a floating line.

What else am I missing?

Dansteelieman has mentioned there being two different techniques for indicator nymphing. I am interested in hearing them. Here is what I do. I use a right angle leader, styrafoam float, and small shot spaced along the leader below the float. Assuming I am going to try to fish a whole run by standing mid run. II throw above it then stack mending slack up current to get the float drifting drag free through the head. Then either picking up line and high stick through the middle in front of you and reaching to extend it down stream or continiung to mend up current and letting it drift as far as possible till it takes all the slack.
Here is a problem I run into sometimes. While indicator fishing it is nessesarry to give an initial hook set every time the float twiches, stops, sinks, ect.. Not enough to yank everything out of the water but just a twich to move the fly to either get it to stick in the fishes mouth or usually a rock, leaf, stick ect.. but you don't know that till you give it that preset. If there is a take when you have a good amount of slack ( more than a couple feet) do you prefer to swing the rod to remove the slack witch will disrupt your drift, strip in slack as quick as possible to get a tight line witch will end up shortening your drift or throw a quick upcurrent mend and hope for the best?

I will give a follow up in a week, my computer crashed and I am borrowing one right now. Sorry about this.

No problem
Some others Presentations I forgot were a hand-twist retrieve while nymphing in slow water or stripping a streamer.
