Brayton Point Mass. Powerplant

 I just got my RISAA Newsletter today, with it there was a flyer with United States Environmental Protection Agency Seal on it, Proposed National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Permit Fact Sheet. This had a lot of very disturbing facts, Like they cycle the Mount Hope Bay water the volumn equivalent of 53 billion gallons is circulated through the facility seven times a year, and raise the bays temperature to as high as 95 degrees. making an anual lose of eggs, and larvae, of 250 million winter flounder, 11.8 billion bay anchovies, food for stripers,375 million windowpane flounders, and 3.5 billion tautog. It makes one think, where have all the fish gone? Even though Rhode Island Saltwater Anglers Association is not a flyfishing organization, they are fighting for the fishing in the area. :D They have an excellent satellite photo showing Mount Hope Bay water temperature, leaving little doubt where the high water temperatures originate.

42 Trillion BTU's?!? Wow, you gotta think there would be a way to use all that thermal energy instead of dumping it into the ecosystem.

Glad it's being addressed, thanks Art for bringng it to our attention.
