This is a hopper pattern that I like because of its simplicity.
Hook: Dry fly, sizes 8-14
Thread: Rust, 6/0
Tail: A few fibers from a partridge feater (or other quill)
Body: Poly yarn, orange or yellow
Wing: Turkey quills, paired
Hackle: Any standard dry fly quality hackle, nuetrally colored
Not only is this fly easy to tie, it's easy to see on the water with the bright yarn body.
Mark...great to see these posts...build up the archive for trout flies...this one might be perfect on the flats...Nice little shrimp pattern in a way also.
