Collection of Surf Candies and Spread flys s

1 Attachment(s)
Here is a collection of Popovics surf candies and a couple of spread flys in the lower right hand side... and some bait fish flys. I tied these last year and used them a lot in the spring.. each time I used one I would replace it to keep the collection with two flys of each color needed.

John,

That looks like Super Hair, is it ?

Been tying a lot of streamers with that lately.

JohnM,

If you are using 5 minute epoxy, don't tie up too many in advance; amost all of my epoxies from last year are now yellowed or milky. I have three suggestions: (1) tie them in small batches as you need them (2) put then in a case that does not allow light in (UV is what kills the epoxy)

(3) use 20 minute epoxy, if you want them for the long haul.

O Mister Worshipful and Honorable Grego

If you first form your epoxy heads with Five Minute Epoxy, then make a second batch of Thirty Minute and recoat. The heads will not discolor if you do so.

Don't thank me, thank worshipful 'others' who've chosen to drift away from the board :(

Good tip Dave, thanks!

Flexcoat or U-40 rod finishing epoxy will give you a really thin coat that doesn't yellow. you do need a rotator then because it takes a couple of hours to cure.
