Great Lakes & PNW - Atlantic Salmon

FYI - See link below

As I thought due to the large Chinook runs in the Michigan rivers and many other great lakes states the Atlantic Salmons they have been trying to stock since the 1970s have not been able to reproduce.

I think I caught a copule of small ones in the early 1980s on the PM it was either that or a lake run brown, hard to tell. No way they can compete with 20-30 pound very aggressive wild chinook salmon which spawn at the same time.

If I had my choice I would take the atlantics over the chinooks but it is to late now in my opinion. A number of Michigan rivers now have wild chinook runs.

Hopefully this will help to stop the escaped PNW atlantic salmon from producing also.
