Jared, I understand how you feel. I moved to CO from MA and it gets into the 60's all the time out here in the winter. I really have the bug to get out and go fishing but I would rather save the vacation days for later this spring. Something I did last year was combine a ski trip with a fishing trip. You could ski at Mount Snow in the morning and hit the deerfield on the way home for the afternoon action.

Gee Jared.. when I saw your post Title I rushed to see it expecting something about the 1960's.... it was not ,so now I am sad.

Its a fair bet that many eastern Mass ponds will be fishable this weekend. Last night I stopped at one of my favorite warm water ponds (west of 495) and it had 20' of water before the ice started. I'll take a look at Walden on the way home.

john --- sorry for the confusion...is that better??

I hate to do this to you guys- one week ago. Small stream in North Carolina.
:eyecrazy:

FWIW, Walden looks very fishable. The ice was ~ 30-120' from the shoreline. I didn't stay long enough to see any midges.

Yes with all of this warm weather this winter the steelhead that wintered over are already spawned out or almost. Looks like things are about a 3-4 weeks early this year in the Mid west and probably most of the nation.

Adapt your spring fishing trips as necessary. I am rethinking mine right now.

Hate thos NC people it always warm down there for the most part have friends at Pinehurst, NC.

Lefty,
That's the reason I left Syracuse for NC in the first place. :hehe:
