clouser's

I tie clouser's on a trey comb's # 2 . This is the fly that I fish for Spring and Fall Salmon , from green, olive , chart, and blue . With crystal flash in the middle . Would these work for sriper's in 2/0 ? Do you guy's on the East coast fish these much in the same color's ? Or do you do tie them differently ? Thank's Fish-head

They sure would work and those are the colors we generally see... except I have not seen blue used... Clousers are the fly and the real eel is a type of clouser except tied longer usually with super or ultra hair... see the post on that fly in this forum.

Fish-head -

I mostly fished deceivers and epoxy candlefish patterns for salmon out west but I had heard a lot about the success with clouser-style flies on feeder salmon. Since moving to striper country the weighted eye / inverted hook is an important part of the arsenal along with deceiver variations like flatwings and bunker flies, squid flies, crab flies, poppers, etc.

On a related note Leland's use of poppers for pacific coho and searun cutts has been a real eye opener for me, when Brian showed me how effective they were I became a believer.
