Terrimack Fly

Ok, sorry to put up yet another rookie fly but.....
I made up my own pattern. Being a musician and retired chef I've never been afraid to jump right in with the creative aspects of things. I feel like I'm breaking the tying rules.
Seems I have a liveliner friend who is going to try the fly rod with me this year and has been egging me on to a certain type of fly. So I've been cooking up some ideas. It incorperates the Boomer I did last week at UTF with a blue/olive deceiver. It's smaller on a 1/0 hook with awesome racoon fur and a small tungston head.
Can't wait to sink this guy in a special place upstream on the Merrimack.
So here it is:

No, I was going to save a stamp and send my Patent in when I sent in MY patent for YOUR fly drier...;^>

Dramatic fly Terri. That one doesn't look like a scanner
image. Was it done with a digital camera? Scanned photo?

Anyway good luck with it....can't wait to get up above
Franklin Dam and check out the spring brood stock.

Terry,
That's an impressive fly for a supposed "rookie". Having only taken up saltwater flyfishing last year, and not having tried to tie yet.....I can only hope I do 1/2 as well!

RE:Terrimack Fly

Thank you. What I've learned is I have much to learn.
I am having fun really. A new challenge is always a kick.
Breaking the rules I guess. Anyone can tie a deceiver.
That image came from a scanner with a clip board on top for background color. Makes for better contrast. Everytime I talk to another tyer I pick up something. Like when a guy told me the hackle feathers on these flies stick together like 2 clasp hands puching in towards eachother. Or when Bob D. said to suck the thread through the bobin tube. awesome.

Terry,
Very nice fly. As a fellow novice tyer, I hope I can replicate... You mentioned the United Fly Tyer meetings. Any chance you're attending the ones in Burlington, MA? If so, could you advise when the next is scheduled?

Thanks in advance.

RE:Terrimack Fly:Correction

Correction: Lefty has cancelled and will be at the April meeting. Guest speakers feb 3 will be:

Bob Benson and Peter Alves "Fishing the Cape"

BTW, the meetings have a guest vendor each month. Would be nice to see BN there.

Dam, three shows in three months and now a fly tiers meeting. Please email me the particulars and we will take it under advisement. BN would love to attend.

RE:Terrimack Fly

Bob,
I am a newcomer there and have no pull (or "traction" as the presidential candidates say lately). Therefore, I will get the UFT officers number and email to you. BN is a first rate shop and I've seen "lesser" shops in there. These meetings are huge too. Lot's of attention given to the vendor tables.
FYI:
There are usually 6 instructive tying tables going on of which 3 are Saltwater.
When I get home to my newsletter I will also post the info in the "Club" section of this site.

Terry

ps. I'll be glad when this thread ends so we won't have to keep scrolling by my messy fly (you never know though it might drive them stripers wild).
