Introducing others to Fly Fishing

Recently gave 1st time casting lessons and fly fishing ponds/streams crash course to a father and his tennage daughter and some. They all have their own fly rods now and gonna get that first trout soon!

Gives me a great feeling to know they love it.

Next is my son, three, who is already tying a decent wooly bugger with some assistance and good with a bobber n worm. Still struggling w/ the yarn rod in the living room.

Taught my next door neighbor and his grown daughter how to cast. Gave me a good feeling.

The big question is always how young to try and get your kids in to fishing. I think the best thing is to expose them to it young, but only for short periods. Kids have short attention spans - if they enjoy it they'll ask to do it again. The danger is forcing it upon them as they will just shut off.

It's a great thing to pass down to your kids
