Custom Sage TXL 00710-3

I thought I would share some photo's of a recently completed rod I just finished for my wife. Sage TXL 00 wt light line rod. I turned the reel seat out of Curly Maple and built the grip here in my workshop. The reel seat hardware is from REC. Agate striper & snake guides. Feather inlays & lineup dots are jungle cock.

I encourage some of you other rod builders to post some pics here of your work. I'll have more this winter I am sure.

Hello Warren

"some photo's of a recently completed rod I just finished for my wife"

I've used that one too

Nice looking little rod. Great idea using JC nails for the line up reference. Very clean looking finish on the wraps. Is that a Sage line, the sky blue colors a new one on me.

Actually Shotgunner that rod is for my wife. I built one for myself last winter & she tried it out & wanted one. Being the old softy I am I said I would make her one too.

The sage lines are made by Rio now & that is the color, it is more a light tan or beige color than sky blue. Must be the light in the pic.

Warren that is a beautiful green, and gfoes nicely with the agate guide. I also wanted to say that my son is having a great time learning to flyfish on that nice rod you sent me last summer. I bought an Okawa 6 weight reel for it and it is perfect!
Thanks,
Bill

Bill,

Glad to hear your son is taking to the sport. I am sure there is many more seasons in that old Sage.
Thanks for the kind words on the Rod. I am hoping more people who build rods will post up some of their work here so we can all enjoy it.
