Flyfishing addict from MI

Hello!

My name is Santosh, and I'm 16. I'm a junior at Canton HS.
I love science, especially biology and chemistry. I also have a passion for international affairs, math, art, photography, and reading. Most of the pics I use and post are taken by my. I love reading novels. One of my faves if Waterland by Graham Swift. My goals are to attend Stanford for my undergrad, and then go to John Hopkins for Med School/Doctorate.

Now to the more interesting stuff. I absolutely love flyfishing. I flyfish all the time near my home for panfish and bass, but take many, many trips up north for trout and salmon. I carry my fly rod where ever I go. Don't get me wrong, I also spinfish and icefish (yup, that time is here). I'll be leaving for FL in a couple days, so I'll post a report :)
As you can see in my sig, I'm a crazy Minnesota Fan (however, I do like the Pistons, Wings, and Tigers). I also play tennis for my school's varsity team.

I'm looking forwards to meeting you guys and learning a lot! Just by looking, I can already tell that this will be a great place. You guys are so knowledgeable.

Welcome again to the forum Santosh. That is some fish you have there.
Since I am pretty much stuck in the cold frozen Northeast for the foreseeable future. A fishing report from Florida would be a welcome diversion from shoveling snow:D

Thanks for the welcome Warren. How much snow do you guys have there? We had 8" last week, but the upcoming week is gonna be in the 40s, and the snow is supposed to melt away...

Welcome! That's quite a fish for a first post. :)

This is probably the most knowledgable fly fishing community you'll find online. I've been here a couple of years now and even with 20+ years of fly fishing under my belt, I still learn a good amount.

Welcome Santosh!

Welcome to the forum Santosh. I wish that I had this resource available when I was your age 30 years ago. Before I moved here to the USVI from Kentucky, I used many bonefish fly paterns for smallmouth bass- my favorites were, clousers, penrith's bonefish fly and the epoxy minnow. My advice is to play around and see what works best for you and it may not necessarily be a fly that is designed for the species that you are pursuing. Hope you have lots of fun!

Thanks for the welcome guys!

Welcome to the forum. Great bunch of guys worldwide that have years of experience flyfishing in both fresh and saltwater. Don't hesitate to ask questions and this and that on flyfishing. If you get the chance when school is out to visit some great saltwater destinations, particularly Cape Cod, give us a shout.
