Braided Butts and Bimini's (...not buns on the Beach)

OK I started makeing my own furled leaders...not braided. They
seem to work really well. Why are they not more popular? The
knotless mono seems lame and not as inexpensive as you would hope.
Knotted leaders have problems...what do you prefer?

Great links with some old familiar names! I am reading the material and will comment after I enjoy the great info...

I've used a furled leader on my 7wt for years and years (VERY durable) and I just love it. I don't know why they are not more popular. I've only seen them in one flyshop in Lacey, WA. If I found them I would by them - to lazy to make my own. ;)

I've reviewed the info on some very familiar (and reliable) people's sites and words and am convinced furled leaders perform exquisitely. The question is just how exquisitely is that?

Maybe it's yankee frugality rubbing off on me but I have to wonder if the pain/performance ratio would ever convince me to furl my own? I tie my own leaders and they perform great, just how much better will they be?

I humbly ask those who furl, is there so much of a difference that I should look into it? Lately I saltwater flyfish, Spey cast for steelhead, and fish for trout (most to least in order).

Thanks in advance,
Juro
