Way late Beaverkill report
Well it’s way overdue – about a month late – but here’s a brief report on the Beaverkill “Clavewannabe”.
The trip down on Friday June 1st, started at about 5pm and for the last half of the ride we were treated to torrential downpours and super thick fog. We set up camp in the rain and went to bed with little hope for fishable waters in the morning.
We woke to slightly high water but it wasn’t sporting much in the way of runnoff color so we started breakfast with high hopes. By the end of breakfast there was definite color to the water and by the time we made it down to the main part of the Beaverkill it was chocolate. :(
Well one of the beauties of this area is the large number of fallback fishing holes. We made the fifteen minute ride to the East Branch of the Delaware, which is dam controlled, and found slightly high but very clear water. The fishing was pretty tough but the weather had cleared and we were treated to a really nice day on the water.
The Next Generation keeps a tight line on his nymph.
Gregg releases a somewhat rare brookie.
Mike fighting a nice brown.
Same fish before release.
Post lunch strategizing.
Day two was essentially a repeat of day one.
