Late South Platte Report

Last week I got the chance to fish the South Platte River in Colorado while on a business trip. I went to a picnic area below Deckers that Brad suggested. Its a pretty area and the ride in was interesting with a 15% gradient road that I wouldn't like if there were any snow. I fished from about 2-5 last tuesday and managed a couple of pretty browns on a bead head PT nymph. Duty called at five and I went to find a phone to call home in time for my sons bed time. Driving out I realized how wiped I was and I decided to go to the hotel rather than back to the river. The rest of the trip was business, and I never did get to try Lily lake which Bob D suggested.

I took pictures and hopefully they will come out.

Thanks again to Brad and Bob D for the help.

Glad you made it. If i remember we had crystal blue skies that day, not really the best for fishing but great for sight seeing. I heard that they bumped the flow up to around 300 cfs lucky you got in when you did. I've fished lily a few times in the last couple weeks waiting for the runn-off to slow and the fish are in spawning mode. I have only managed 2 fish but the colors are spectacular.
