York River-- Gaspe, Quebec
The midseason count on the York River was completed today and the run of large salmon is (as anticipated) fabulous.
Conditions are difficult at the present time with water temperatures reaching 70 degrees by mid-day. The best fishing is occuring from daylight until around noon. After that the water is simply too warm for the salmon. The water is lower than normal for this time of year and the rain which is predicted for the coming weekend is much anticipated. Hopefully the unseasonably warm weather will break by the end of the week as well.
The Dartmouth River will be counted in the next day or two and I expect that the count will be strong.
