Hexa gigantica

Something I enjoy almost more than catching fish is getting others into thier first fish. With the Hex an gigantica hatch starting at Merril lake in SW Washington I seaized the opportunity to take a friend out. Adam had tried FlyFishing a couple years ago but gave up after not catching anything. I viewed this as a challenge. The drive from Portland to Merril is about 1 hour 15 minutes not too bad. After some brief casting lesson I jumpe in my pontoon boat and loaded Adam into a tube and off we trolled to our destination. I could tell he was getting a little frustrated tubing around. I hooked a couple nice 13-14" cutts while trolling. Around 8:45 a nice 16" brown came to my hex emerger. I figured I wouldn't fish until Adam got a couple of grabs. with in five minutes he got his first fish on a fly a 13" cutty with lots o spunk. I rounded of the evening with a 18-20" hook nose browny. what a great evening.
