Time to get out of here?
To all traditional Steelheaders,

I think it is time soon if this weather keeps up to head for the Gulf side of Costa Rica to fish. WARM WATER PLEASE! SUNSHINE PLEASE! Lets go soon.

Lets set up camp in the costal jungle, build a fire at night, drink rum, smoke you know what and not sleep at all and be on the water as the sun comes up. :lildevl:

KerryS 12-13-2004 12:38 PM

I'm ready. When do we leave?

9 more days until the solstice. Then the days will start gradually getting longer.

OC 12-13-2004 12:58 PM

Ya and like always those 9 days are hell. Any time will be good!

sinktip 12-13-2004 01:31 PM

Well I just want to say that I was a biologist and so I know more than you about handling steelhead and how to properly release them. That is all I have to say. :smokin:

An old saying that if you throw a rock into a pack of dogs, the one that yelps is the one you hit.

Sorry, just some random thoughts from the EP.

KerryS 12-13-2004 01:34 PM

I think Sinktip was at Woodstock.

OC 12-13-2004 01:35 PM

One of us must be on the wrong thread!

sean 12-13-2004 01:40 PM

I think Sinktip was at Woodstock.
Or maybe he has been in that holding tank too long and is a little ripe. :Eyecrazy:

After more investigation I have come to the conclusion that the tipper was not at woodstock but on a river as a wee lad hanging out with the inventor of the Chum fishery and learning how to handle wild fish. Even when it's against the law both of them don't care. Sink tip explain yourself, repent because the other one won't.

sinktip 12-13-2004 01:52 PM

Sorry OC, et. al.

I was just trying out a technique of posting completely unrelated content into my updates. I have seen it used quite a bit lately and I just wanted to see if it was liberating to my soul.

By the way count me in for the trip to someplace warm. I am in the market for a top-notch bonefish experience, now I just have to find the right place and guide. One question though, do bonefish have an adipose fin????

OC 12-13-2004 02:03 PM

Yes they do. And they are good to eat, here's how. Take two bonefish put them in the fridge over night. Next day put one on a cutting board, cut off the tail take a rolling pin or coke bottle and roll it down the sides of the fish. What you do is squeeze out all the meat like toothpaste. Make fish cakes out of it. It tastes just like toothpaste but better. Not sure they have bone fish in Costa Rica but they do have snook and tarpon. If you need a bone fish and some excitment hire a non resident guide down in Cancun. I bet you will always will remember the violence that will happen this year in sunny Mexico. Be safe, take pictures for our local papers. Now is that unrelated or what!

KerryS 12-13-2004 02:51 PM

May I suggest...............

or perhaps....

OC 12-13-2004 03:46 PM

They both look good but I'm a little nevous about the Rain Goddess. We all have had enough of rain and is she related to our very own fishing goddess? Anyone ever fish the coast of Columbia? Looking at the world atlas it has some promise. How about the 100 miles north and south of the Amazon delta region? Now that has promise. Plenty of jungle to build a fire in. Hey moonlight you know how to build a good fire in a tropical rain?

I'm going to ask the boss if i can have some time off in January.

MJC 12-13-2004 03:57 PM

Yo OC...
While reading your posts with all this talk of climes to the South, my mind (what's left of it) drifted back to Hunter S Thompson and his story "The Great Shark Hunt".

OC 12-13-2004 04:08 PM

Don't feel bad Mike. Just think about what mind Hunter S has left! I'm now thinking Belem Brazil for a chance at the worlds record Tarpon. Looks like a truely evil city a place where old steelheaders like most of us would need to be on our toes day and night. Like I say build a fire and stay awake the whole trip just like Hunter S would have done.

andre 12-13-2004 04:23 PM

Well I guess we should just head farther south. The Steelies in Chile should be running not much like skating a dry in December.
