Local Fly Shop Expansion - South Shore

While running errands today I was driving past friend of the Forum's -Smitty's Fly Shop (Rod Builders Workshop in Kingston MA) and had to stop in when I saw the open sign.

His new line of Sage rods & reels are in with more to come. I know where I'm getting my next rod plus the new Sage reels are pretty enticing.

He's also expanding into freshwater fly supplies, tying supplies & gear.

Metro Boston: The Rod Builder's Workshop will have a new website built over the winter. If you haven't already visited Smitty's place, it's only a mile off the highway (rte 3) in Kingston, MA and he is loaded with great stuff. As one of the most experienced rod builders in the eastern seaboard, he can get a huge variety of rod materials in addition to the full fly shop and conventional gear he supplies. He also gives rod building lessons, in fact he's helped a lot of people we know from various boards to build their heirloom rods.

Smitty's shop is full of first rate supplies for the fly tyer and rod builder alike. Any shop can have the gear, I think what sets one apart from the other is the shopkeeper. There's always story or tidbit of info to be found at Rodbuilders. As far as rodbuilding goes the place oozes experience. I'm would not be suprised if Lefty himself strolled through the door to pick up his new favorite rod. My wife got me a custom conventional a few years back before I was into fly fishing, a work of art, now I just wish it were a fly rod.
