Anvil Apex vises

I just got info from The Bear's Den store that Orvis bought the vice patent (possibly the whole company, I'm not sure) and will be offering the same vise sans pedestal base for $20 more than the original MSRP (99.95).

Some may find this interesting, other not so much but thought it worthy of posting given the tying season is approaching.

I know at least one member of this board who thinks highly of this piece of hardware and I just bought one as well (I liked it that much too).

I've heard some good reviews as well... I especially like the fact that you get the clamp and pedestal. Rotary, stainless, etc. Nice vise!

Though the Apex may not have cam lock jaws, cantilevered head and so forth, this is the best valued piece, for the money spent, that I've ever purchased. Holds from 32 to 7/0, very well done piece.

If there's any truth to the rumor that Orvis bought the company or rights to the design, then I'm going out and get ANOTHER ONE NOW - before they make the deal more advantageous to themselves (read expensive) to acquire by branding it with the "Company name"

Anvil Apex Vises

I'm a new member so I'm a bit late with a post, however I've used this vise for a year now and find it does everything I need it to do. It is a well made piece of equipment and should last a lifetime. A lot of bang for the buck.

Thanks for the vote of confidence on the vise. A firsthand review beats an ad anyday!

You can go look in that [user cp] page (top left button) and there are options for setting your account up the way you like.

Welcome!
