This fly was inspired by Bill McMillan's Paint Brush. Designed as a winter pattern to get the attention of lethargic fish in cold water. Unlike the original Paint Brush, I swing this on a sinktip.

Hook: Tiemco 7999 or similar in size 1/0 or 2/0
Thread: Red 6/0 Danville
Tail: none
Tag: medium oval silver tinsel
Body: rear half orange floss front half dubbed purple angora or slf
Rib: medium oval silver tinsel (rear half only)
Hackle: Three parts 1) orange neck hackle palmered over orange floss 2) two turns of red guinea between floss and dubbing 3) purple spey hackle wound over the purple dubbing
Wing: One natural guinea feather tented over the body
