good lightweight st croix rod and reel combo?
I'm looking to get a St. Croix rod and reel combo. There is a large variety of fish that I'd like to be able to catch on this rod. These include:
Small water trouts
perch, panfish, small bass
I need this combo to be as versitile as possible although price is definitly taken into consideration. Anyone have any good suggestions ?

I am not that familiar with the St. Croix offerings, but given your targets there are some other rods that I can highly recommend:
Meiser 11' 4" for 5/6
Meiser 11' 7" for 5/6
Meiser switch for 5/6
There are more expensive than the St. Croix, but if you can manage it they are well worth the added expense.
If you can get to a regional spey clave and cast the rods with a few line combinations, that would be ideal. Also, unless you are experienced as a spey caster, get some good instruction soon.
The reason I'm going for st. croix is because I live nearby to the manufacturing plant and can get their stuff for very very cheap there.
A 6 wt rod would provide the greatest versitility for the fish you are planning to target. It can cast wind-resistent bass bugs for the bass and is not too heavy to be able to have fun with the smaller fish and the small flies some of them will require. You should simply choose the 6 wt rod in the series you like the casting action and feel of to get the best one for you. Since you live near the factory, you should be able to cast several different models in different lengths and then buy the one you like best.
A 5 wt could be used; but it will be decidedly light for the bass bugs.
to make you a factory`rider' like a motorcycle team,,ask them about any demo rods suitable for user's with your skill level, then take what they give you,and beat the waters up!,,of course, you must try and get them to become a sponsor of the forum here!!:D
